PLEDGE FOR 2024

We invite your pledge for 2024

I pledge the following to First Lutheran Church:

4 + 0 = ?

Through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
-Revelations 22:2

For First Lutheran’s intergenerational event in honor of Earth Day, we toured the church grounds and learned about the importance of trees to the health of our community and to our world. We identified the Coast Redwood and Coast Live Oak which are native to California. Others are native to Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Africa. Years ago, these trees came together and have grown together.

More than 100 years ago, Swedish immigrants gathered together and planted the seeds for First Lutheran Church. We have welcomed members from near and far, worshipped together, pursued exciting opportunities, and grown together.

We met challenges with the onset of the pandemic and grew stronger in many ways, including:

  • adapting to a hybrid worship format
  • introducing creative music collaborations including a pickup choir and congregational prelude “sing along”
  • participating in events for intergenerational sharing and service
  • reaching out to neighbors including Rios de Agua Viva, St. Elizabeth Seton School, East Palo Alto, and immigrant friends.

As we embark on our 2024 Stewardship Campaign, we invite you to plant seeds and share your gifts for FLC’s future—financially, and with your time, talent and prayers.

Please mark your calendars for Commitment Sunday, November 5, 2023.
