Adult Forum meets in the library, from 9:15-10:15. We dig deep with an open spirit into theology, scripture, societal issues and ethics. The childcare center is open downstairs during this time. Grab a cup of coffee on the way in, if you like, and join us!
November 20 – Luther, Leipzig, and Loving Neighbors: Encouraging a discussion of FLC’s vision to “learn and know Christ in our neighbors”, Joyce Rice and Mary Gundelach will share their experience of visiting Leipzig last June during its annual Bachfest.
November 27 – Bright Stars of Bethlehem Adult Forum and Intergenerational Craft. In the library, adults welcome Jeanette Cool, national board member, and Martha Meyer, Bay Area Representative, for a presentation about Bright Stars of Bethlehem, which “partners to grow hope in Palestine by connecting people in the United States through awareness-raising and fund-raising, to these ministry efforts in the Holy Land.” During this time, children and anyone else who would like to help, gather with Jill in the fellowship hall for a star-making craft and opportunity to chat about Advent hope for all people.
December 4 – Awaiting infant Jesus during Advent. Jin will introduce a couple of choral preludes from J. S. Bach’s Schbüler Chorales, most of which are transcribed from Bach’s cantatas. Based on the key words from the choral texts, we will have time to ponder the message of the Advent and Christmas season and also look into Bach’s compositional devices.
December 11 – Member Interviews. In late November, we welcomed three new members through Affirmation of Baptism: Maika Horjus, Sonia Thompsen and Michael Angeletti. Join us for a time of getting to know them better
December 18 – TBD.
