First Lutheran church is involved in the ministry of accompaniment with a family seeking asylum in the US court system.
So far, this accompaniment has involved being together at church activities, time on the phone, sharing pizza, providing childcare and rides, clothes shopping and trips to court. Contact Pastor Kate if you’d like to get involved.
We are raising money to help pay for court fees. You can donate by clicking here and filling out the form to contact the financial secretary.
This ministry is shared with First Congregational Church of Palo Alto and the Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity.
First Lutheran Church has a long history of providing hospitality to refugees – you can read more here. We are involved in providing scholarships with a sister congregation in El Salvador. We have also declared ourselves to be a Welcoming Congregation within the meaning of ELCA’s Ammparo initiative.
