Immigrant Accompaniment

First Lutheran church has been involved in the ministry of accompaniment with several families seeking asylum in the US court system.

This accompaniment has involved being together at church, going through the court system, sharing life’s challenges and victories around housing, childcare, health, parties, legal issues, work, transportation, the covid-19 shut downs.  We’ve learned a lot.   Contact Pastor Kate if you’d like to get involved.  Knowledge of Spanish is especially valuable.

We are always raising money to help these families get through.  You can donate by clicking here and filling out the form to contact the financial secretary.

We’ve worked together with First Congregational Church of Palo Alto.

First Lutheran Church has a long history of providing hospitality to refugees – you can read more here.  We are involved in providing scholarships with a sister congregation in El Salvador.  We have also declared ourselves to be a Welcoming Congregation within the meaning of ELCA’s Ammparo initiative.
