Vital to our Community
In addition to activities just for them, we invite children and youth to participate in all aspects of community life such as fellowship, worship assistant roles, service projects, and creative endeavors. We love intergenerational events, such as those which put the elderly together with the young. All ages learn to be church together.
Neighbors Welcome!
Not all families who participate are members. Some are around most weekends, others might just show up for an event or two per year.
Children at Worship
Children are most welcome at all worship services. Opportunities to serve include: lighting candles, carrying the cross, reading scripture, music and drama, distributing communion, children’s sermon.
Young children can join parents in the pew, sit at the craft table in the back, or the small room just behind the sanctuary, with a window looking in. It’s natural for children to make noise, and are fine with it!
Children can also head downstairs to our Children’s Center for all or part of the service, where childcare is provided. The Children’s Center is outfitted like a preschool. Please bring diapering supplies if your child needs them.
Baptism, Communion, Confirmation
These sacraments are for all ages – beginning with Baptism, and then when ready, Holy Communion. Occasional classes are provided for children and parents to better understand the meaning of these sacraments.
Confirmation allows for teens to go deeper in their learning, culminating with an opportunity to affirm their faith during worship and become voting members of the congregation. Ask a pastor for more information.
