Adult forums after Easter

April and May 2018

Themes: Christ, leadership, ministry, church

Adult Forum meets in the library, from 9:15-10:15.  We dig deep with an open spirit into theology, scripture, societal issues and ethics.   The childcare center is open downstairs during this time.  Grab a cup of coffee on the way in, if you like, and join us!

Tentative schedule:

April 8: Jill Knuth leads us into conversation on the idea of a “cloud of witnesses” from the book of Hebrews.

April 15: Mark Bertelsen discusses a class he taught at our local seminary recently.  The topic will be “characteristics of ethical leadership: Christian and Humanist perspectives.”

April 22 and 29: ‘Gospel’ and Written Gospels as Reaction against the Roman Emperor Cult.  Jon Dechow leads the discussion from a paper he wrote which you can read online here.

May 6 and 13: George Knudson and Pastor Bernt lead a discussion of a recent ecumenical statement between US Lutherans and Roman Catholics on the nature of the church, ministry in the church and the Eucharist – called “Declaration on the Way.” You can learn more about the statement and read it here.

May 20: TBD (may be a continuation of “Declaration on the Way”
