On February 9th, we will welcome the Karis Piano Trio to our worship service. They are a trio of accomplished musicians who are actively performing throughout the Bay Area, and they will be presenting three pieces during our service — one each for the prelude, offertory, and postlude. Lywon Yeo – Piano
Lywon Yeo, a pianist from Seoul, South Korea, graduated from Yewon School and Seoul Arts
High School with an Achievement Award and continued her education at Yonsei University
(B.M) in Seoul. She pursued advanced studies in Europe and the United States under
world-renowned professors such as Pascal Devoyon, Pietro De Maria, and Kate Soyeon Lee.
Lywon earned her Master’s and Postgraduate degrees (M.A, PGL) from Universität der Künste Berlin and Mozarteum Universität Salzburg, as well as an Artist Diploma (A.D) from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where she was awarded full and special scholarships. A First Prize winner in international competitions across Italy, Chile, and the UK, Lywon performs a diverse repertoire ranging from Baroque to contemporary works, captivating audiences worldwide with her dynamic expression and refined artistry. Since moving to San Jose in 2022, she has guided her students to win over 50 international competition prizes and was honored with the Best Accompanist Awards and four Certificates of Recognition in New York for her contributions.
Dongsoo Cha– Violin
Dongsoo Cha, a distinguished violinist based in Campbell, California, holds a Master of Music from Yale University, where he studied under Syoko Aki, and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Southern California under Glenn Dicterow, former Concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic. His artistry has been shaped by global studies in South Korea and Austria, as well as mentorship from renowned violinists including Boris Kuschnir and Daniel Ching. A prizewinner in competitions such as the Austin Symphony Concerto Competition and the Yale Chamber Music Competition, he has performed with the Austin Symphony and Civic Orchestras. Dongsoo actively performs chamber music while also maintaining a private teaching studio. He serves as the music director of the SKY Ensemble, a high school volunteer group performing in Bay Area nursing homes, and as a board member of the Korean American Music Supporters Association (KAMSA).
Bobae Lee– Cello
Bobae Lee, a cellist from Seoul, South Korea, began her musical journey at eight. She holds
degrees from Seoul National University (B.M.), Yale University (M.M.), and the University of
Texas at Austin (Artist Diploma), studying with renowned cellists including Aldo Parisot and Bion Tsang. Bobae gained international recognition as the Grand Prize winner of the 2020 Fischoff International Chamber Competition. She has also received awards from the Wigmore Hall and ARD International Music Competitions. Bobae has performed in major venues across Asia, Europe, and North America. A passionate educator, she maintains a private teaching studio and mentors young musicians. She serves as music director of the SKY Ensemble, a volunteer group performing in Bay Area nursing homes. Additionally, she is a board member of the Korean American Music Supporters Association (KAMSA) and secretary of the Northern California Chapter of the Seoul National University Music Alumni Association.
