In celebration of Valentine’s Day, the Yonsei Alumni Music Concert will take place at the church on Saturday, February 14, at 5:30 PM.
As in previous years, this event is a music concert co-sponsored by our church. The performers are my senior and junior colleagues—exceptionally talented musicians who are actively performing in the Bay Area. Together, they bring a wealth of experience and passion, showcasing both the rich tradition and the vibrant present of Yonsei alumni in music.
In a time when love seems to be disappearing, this concert has been thoughtfully designed to explore the meaning of true love. Drawing from Greek philosophy, there are five types of love:
- Eros – the passionate, romantic love between partners
- Agape – selfless, unconditional love, exemplified by divine love
- Philia – the deep friendship and camaraderie between friends
- Storge – the natural affection and bond among family members
- Ludus – playful or lighthearted love
The concert will culminate with a moving choral piece based on 1 Corinthians 13:1 (NKJV): “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal,” reflecting the Agape love of Jesus, the ultimate example of true love.
We hope many will attend to reflect on the meaning of love, experience beautiful music, and enjoy a special outing on Valentine’s Day. Your support would mean a lot to us!
Best regards,
Jung Jin
